Haven’t you ever noticed how your children repeat the words that you say? And, sometimes, you didn’t even realize you said those words? Or, what about when you pick up on certain words or phrases from people that you spend a significant amount of time with…probably because you’re fond of it? You may have for a split second (and, sometimes you don’t even notice it) say to yourself, “Oh, that’s a cool word”/”I like that.” but, that’s all it took…a GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION!…
I like that! Let’s all try to make what comes out of our mouths GOOD FIRST IMPRESSIONS. Otherwise, don’t speak. 😛
But, with all kidding aside…
People listen more than we sometimes think they do, and, we need to be mindful of that. Someone once told me a good analogy that stuck (I listened!) When we speak, it’s like squeezing toothpaste out of a tube. Once it comes out (once the words spew out of our mouths), it (they) can’t go back in.
We can say our sorries, but, the impression has been made.
Loved this from Our Daily Bread…
Our children would be ‘more likely to grow in reverence of Him and to enjoy the rewards that come through knowing Him intimately, loving Him completely, and following Him obediently’.
And, this…
As Papa’s words ‘flow naturally from our hearts and out of our mouths, we can leave a strong legacy of faith to be passed down from generation to generation.
Isn’t that what life is all about…living in harmony?
So, WTF?! Oh. Excuse my language!
But, seriously. Let’s be smart AND love one another. Why can’t we have both, gosh, darn it!?
In a nutshell: Here’s to making GOOD FIRST IMPRESSIONS!
Love,
me
